What is biofuel energy? What are biofuels?
These are solid, liquid or gas compounds that are derived from biomass, or basically anything living or one of it’s products, which can be transported. Biomass can also be used as a energy source by itself however it is not meant to be transported as a biofuel.
Biofuels have always been used by human for heating a cooking. In our world today the best example of a biofuel would be ethanol for use in vehicles. In fact the first cars made were to be run off ethanol before the discovery of massive oil reserves in the United States.
Hemp can also be used as a biofuel but is not as common due to the cultural significance of hemp and it’s byproducts.
Biodiesel is a blend of diesel along with a biofuel, which could be anything from ethanol to the grease that drips off your french fries in McDonalds. It can also be used in vehicles without any significant modifications while allowing the operators to gain valuable alternative energy tax credits.
Biofuels are not all nice and dandy, in the next articles I’ll explain why biofuels and especially ethanol may actually cause more harm to the world than good.
