SpartanSaving.com was established on August the 18th 2007, with the goal of helping the average family save money at home. Every tip on this website has a monetary value (in American dollars) that will help you understand how much money you could save by following any of these tips.
*Use clothesline as much as possible rather then dryer. This can save 30-40$/Yr.
*Plant trees on the West and South sides of your house. This'll reduce the amount of heat entering your home during the hot summer months. It could save you over 150$/Yr on cooling costs every summer.
*Use a nozzle on your hose when watering/washing the garden or car. By using a nozzle you are limiting the amount of water you'll be using. A typical hose can use 100's of gallons an hour if left on. Savings, possible 2-3$/Yr.
*Catch the water falling from your AC unit due to condensation. Using that water for other purposes can save you .50$/Yr.
*Plant perennials instead of annuals, as it's a one-time fee and doesn't have to be planted every year. If your a avid gardener, you can save 100-200$/Yr.
*Pay attention to the weather. Many people needlessly water their garden before and after a rainstorm due to not knowing about it coming. You could save 2-3$/Yr.
*Instead of washing your vehicle on the pavement, why not trying it on the lawn. That way the same water that cleans your car, will also be used to water the lawn. Kill two birds with one stone. You could save 2-3$/Yr.
*Brush away your driveway or paths, instead of using water to clean them. 2-3$/Yr.
*Capture rainwater. Get all your eaves to divert there water to a barrel and use the water for gardening later on. Great way to save on wasted water, otherwise. Make sure you place some sort of anti-mosquito device on the water as to prevent the spread of mosquitoes. With a 1000sq ft. home, during a one-inch rainfall, will collect 600 gallons of water. Collecting this water can save you 6$/Yr.
Total Savings : 351.50$/Yr.
